Is Samsung's Newest Smartwatch Better than the Apple Watch?

Although Samsung's newest smartwatch is due for official release in stores this October, gadget enthusiasts are already given a hands-on preview of the Korean tech giant's latest addition to the family.

Businessinsider.com.au featured a recent article on the smartwatch's promising features to watch out for. Users can choose either two or both versions of the watch (why not?): the classic and the sport. Whichever you choose, the watch certainly feels more lightweight compared to Samsung's older versions, which was felt clunkier by many. Between the two versions, the classic is smaller yet sleeker in design plus it has an authentic leather-made 20 mm strap as compared to the other version. The sport version is bigger with an elastometer strap to it.

Here are the new smartwatch's other interesting features:

  • It works smoothly with Android devices running on 4.4 and higher, however it is powered with Samsung's Tizen software instead of Android Wear like all other smartwatches.
  • The smartwatch has a 1.2" circular touch screen and rotating clock face used for control. Wow.
  • To switch onto another screen, users can just turn the bezel and still have real-time access without fear of obstructing the screen view. Turning left allows users to view notifications, whereas on the right would show the apps on the screen.
  • Check out the time by only pressing + holding onto the screen, for just a fraction of a second.
  • One of the smartwatch's best tricks allows users to select from more than 20 (in fact, 26) third-party pre-installed watch faces such as those of Bloomberg, CNN and of course, Twitter.

Slashgear.com also reported on the newest smartwatch from Samsung. The article mentioned the Fitness feature of the watch, with the pre-loaded S Health and the Nike+ Running apps. Surely, people from all walks of life would have a blast with the smartwatch's cool tricks. Additional features on the new smartwatch can be also read by clicking here
