'Castle' Season 8 Spoilers & Premiere: Promo Clip Teases Rick's New Partner & Kate's New Job As Captain

ABC recently released a teaser for the upcoming eighth season of "Castle." In the clip, Rick Castle's (Nathan Fillion) new partner, Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye), was teased. The clip also featured Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) in her new job as the captain of the 12th precint.

According to Buddy TV, the premiere episode for "Castle" Season 8 will be titled "XY" and it will center on the lives of the characters and the big changes they will have to go through.

Meanwhile, TV Line confirmed that Ryan and Jenny will have a baby, and this could affect Ryan's relationship with his good friend Esposito. When Ryan learns that he's having a child, he becomes competent and would want to be able to earn more. In doing so, he will have disagreements and encounters with Esposito that could cost them their relationship.

"After seeing Beckett ascend the ranks, they're realizing maybe it's time for them to start looking upwards into their own careers. In doing so, they start to butt heads a bit, but in a fun way, because the dynamic between those two has always been 'two brother,'" co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter said.

In other news, Alexis (Molly Quinn) will also mature in the upcoming eighth season of "Castle." The character will no longer be regarded as Rick's little girl.

Additionally, Alexis will find inspiration from new character Hayley, who will become like a big sister to her. This means that Alexis will look up to the character, and fans are speculating that she might also follow in her footsteps.

A new photo for "Castle" Season 8 will also be released in the next few weeks ahead of the series' premiere.

"Castle" Season 8 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET.
