Sad news for U2 band lovers. It may take some time before U2 fans will see the band's frontman, Bono, play the guitar again after his bike accident. The musician has revealed that he is still uncertain whether that will happen soon.
According to the Daily Mail, the 55 year old musician made the revelation during an interview with the September issue of Q magazine. Bono admitted to the magazine how "embarrassed" he is to talk about it, however he revealed that "it's not looking good." He added, "It's just a bummer if you like playing guitar."
The Daily Mail report recounted how the star broke his arm in six places and fractured his eye socket, shoulder, elbow and left hand, during a bike accident in New York's Central Park on November of last year. The news site further mentioned that the singer also underwent surgery in 2010, following a spinal injury which reportedly almost left Bono permanent damaged. The iconic rocker even said that he was "that close" and "nearly crippled himself."
The U2 frontrunner was also very open about his accident with the New York Times, states the Daily Mail. During Bono's April interview with the publication, he shared that he wasn't able to bend his fingers and it felt like he had "rigor mortis." Bono even admitted that "it feels like I have somebody else's hand." The musician added, "But they say that nerves heal about a millimeter a week, so in about 13 months I should know if it's coming back.
Meawhile, Entertainment Tonight (ET) also stated that Bono told his fans last year on how "it is not clear that I will ever play again." The U2 band leader said, "The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this."
Let's hope and pray that the rocker will be able to recovery from his injuries.
