François Pinault and Salma Hayek buy Vidal Sassoon’s Singleton House

Luxury business giant, François Pinault and wife Salma Hayek have reportedly purchased the hair styling legend, Vidal Sassoon's Bel Air estate for $16.5 million. The home- popularly known as the "Singleton House" was initially priced at $17.99 million in November 2012.

The Bel Air residence was built by famous architect Richard Neutra in 1959. The home was purchased by Sassoon and his wife Ronnie in 2004 for $6 million. Ronnie listed the house on the market in November soon after Sassoon's death. Sassoon breathed his last May 9, 2012 after a prolonged illness, reports Celeb Digs.

The residence gained its name "Singleton House" because all the construction expenses of the place were undertaken by eminent industrialist, Henry Singleton. Spread across a 5-acre area on a hillock overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the downtown city of Los Angeles, the property is a beautiful 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom space with open courtyards. Glass walls adorn the home's interiors and a sitting room features inside the master suite. The place also boasts of a spa, a steam room, a Japanese styled soaking tub and beautiful gardens. The garden has some stonework by sculptor Isamu Noguchi, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The home in Mulholland Drive was renovated by the Sassoons when they moved in. Vidal and Ronnie restored the home to its current magnificence with the help of designer Martin Lawrence-Bullard, reports Architectural Digest.

The new owners of the home are elated about the purchase. Pinault heads the PPR group, which is the parent company of luxury brands like Gucci and Sergio Rossi. The French business czar had first started off the company trading wood and later diversified into luxury retail.
