"Game of Thrones" fans will meet Samwell Tarly's brother in the upcoming season of the drama series next year. Freddie Stroma will join HBO's GoT Season 6, it has been confirmed.
The UnReal star is going to play Dickon Tarly, Sam's younger brother, Entertainment Weekly reported. In George R.R. Martin's novel, Dickon is described as more physically fit than Sam that's why their father, Randyll Tarly, forced Sam to choose to join the Night Watch or die. That way, Dickon became the heir. Sam was last seen in HBO's fantasy drama Season 5 leaving for the Oldtown to study and become a maester.
The 28-year-old English actor is best known for his role as an eligible bachelor Adam Cromwell in Lifetime's drama-comedy show "UnReal." Stroma also played Cormac McLaggen in the final two "Harry Potter" films.
Stroma's role in the "Game of Thrones" is "sure to be a significant step" in his career, The Daily Mail said.
Stroma will join other new faces casted for the next season. "Exorcist" star Max von Sydow was casted to take over the role of the Three-Eyed Raven. "Deadwood" star Ian McShane is playing a mystery role. Danish actor Pilou Asbaek signed up as Euron Greyjoy.
Production of "Game of Thrones Season 6" is ongoing and the next season is reportedly going to be 10 episodes. HBO has earlier confirmed its plans to take the show to eight seasons at least, according to The Daily Mail.
"Game of Thrones" has been nominated to 24 Emmys this year, according to New York Post. Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey have been nominated as Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while Peter Dinklage has been nominated as Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
"Game of Thrones Season 6" returns on screen in spring 2016, probably ahead of "Winds of Winter" release date which is still not confirmed.
