On Sept. 9, Apple will hold its biggest event of the year which typically features a release of a new iPhone model. However, it figures to be more than that for the upcoming Apple affair if all rumors and indications are to be believed.
According to Mashable, the Apple event will be held in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium which is a new one for the tech giant. Traditionally, new iPhones are launched either at the Apple campus in Cupertino or at Moscone West. Compared to the usual number of people, Apple hopes to accommodate for an unveiling, this year has by far the most expected number of guests with the auditorium capacity maxing out at 7,000.
The event is expected to showcase the new iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, according to 9to5Mac. The new version of the top selling smartphone is expected to have the same physical appearance but with major upgrades to its hardware and the much maligned phone casing.
Outlined in the same report of 9to5Mac, the new iPhones will get the 7,000 series aluminum case which Apple says is 60 percent stronger than regular alloys. The camera will also get a boost from eight megapixels to 12, plus it will be able to shoot 4K video. Coming with the upgrade is also an increase in RAM which pundits say will become bigger at 2GB.
Another big feature of the iPhone expected to be revealed is the Force Touch-based display. This new technology allows the latest iPhones to tell the difference between a deep press and a standard one. It is expected to have a big impact on app usage especially on mobile gaming.
The Apple event will also unveil the latest iteration of the Apple TV which will now use the A8 processor, but early reports say it will not have the much-desired 4K streaming capabilities. The Apple event is expected to have its fair share of surprises which the company is notorious for.
