Gov Simon Lalong of Plateau promised to recover stolen funds as well as government properties carted away.
On Sunday night, Mr. Lalong made the disclosure to Journalists in Plateau at a media chat to mark his 100 days in office, according to Leadership.
He said, "Through the instrumentality of the law, we will immediately pursue the recovery of funds and government properties carted away." He continued, "These include monies fraudulently siphoned through the instrumentality of state agencies for which works have not been done or have not reached the level of payments.''
He said that through technical and professional audit committees they will keep their funds on track as well as hasten its recovery and "their application to projects, programmes and institutions."
He also said that the government wants to ensure that the "probity, accountability and transparency, value for money" is obtain while projects are ongoing. He also said that his administration is committed to help the people of Plateau, they want to ease the suffering.
"The enormity of the challenges that we are confronted with have left us with only one option of making quick fixes that will address basic human needs of the citizenry," he said.
He also guarantee a peaceful environment. As part of his good governance, he also promised to find solutions to the continuing conflicts in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and parts of Jos South.
As many conflicts arises, he said that with the government's sincerity and community's willingness to help, crises will eventually end.
"Our approach to resolving this challenge is hinged on rekindling first, confidence in government sincerity to solving the problems and willingness of the communities for an end to crises. Our efforts in facilitating dialogue through the many consultations are yielding results beyond imagination," he added.
Despite many challenges they faced, he said that the administration made some modest achievements within 100 days.
"We have paid workers salary arrears for five months as well as three months pension arrears and government will endeavour to clear the outstanding as the bail-out is received. We resumed road construction on 18 ongoing metropolitan roads and almost completed the Federal Lowcost Housing road network. We purchased and distributed 650 trucks of fertilizer on assumption of office through a community based distribution which involves ward and districts heads to eliminate sharp practices associated with middlemen."
Mr. Lalong also said that he has not received any salary since he assumed office due to inadequate funds, according to Premium Times.
