A new report has surfaced on Monday saying that tech giant Apple is planning to release a new version of iMac. The report says that the Cupertino-based company plans to launch a 21.5-inch iMac with 4K display. The rumored iMac is reportedly scheduled to be launched in October, alongside Apple's OS X El Capitan. Apple's rumored iMac will reportedly be shipped beginning November.
The new 21.5-inch iMac will have a new resolution of 4096 x 2304, which is higher compared to the current model's screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. It was said that the new iMac will be powered by a faster processor, and an improved color saturation is likewise expected.
With such high-end specs, industry experts claim that the price of the new iMac will be more expensive compared to the price of the previous models. Rumor has it also that Apple plans to hold a separate event for the launch of its new iMac, a report from Gadgets NDTV said.
Citing a reliable source regarding Apple's iMac rumor, Macrumor reports that in early August, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple's iMac product line will receive new upgrades, particularly new processors and improved display that features great color saturation through a LED phosphor material known as KSF.
"Apple began updating its iMac lineup last October, with the launch of the 27-inch Retina iMac. Updates across the line have been slow, however, due to Intel's ongoing Broadwell chip delays, and the 21.5-inch iMac has not seen an update since 2013. It is not clear if Apple will release multiple 21.5-inch iMac models during the October refresh, or which chips those machines might use. Skylake chips appropriate for the iMac are launching 'later this year,' but there are a handful of Broadwell chips appropriate for various 21.5-inch iMac models," the report said.
The Cupertino-based company will hold its annual media event on Sept. 9 where it is expected to showcase its new next-generation iPhone 6s and Apple TV. Traditionally, Apple may hold another press event this October for the launch of its new iPad and Mac devices.
