Johnny Depp's Wife, Amber Heard's Dogs Case Heads To Queensland Court

A court hearing involving Johnny Depp's wife, Amber Heard is due to start on the Gold Coast, according to Brisbane times.

Heard has been summoned to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday to defend herself against charges of illegal importation and for falsification of documents. She could face a hefty fine and a possible 10 years in prison if she's proven guilty of illegally smuggling of two dogs, Pistol and Boo into Australia during Depp's filming of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' back in May.

Heard reportedly did not appear in court during the hearing. However, Case was adjourned until Nov. 2.

It all started back in May, when Heard was accused by Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce of smuggling the Yorkshire terriers aboard in Depp's private jet.

"If we start letting movie stars - even though they've been the sexiest man alive twice - to come into our nation (with pets), then why don't we just break the laws for everybody?" Joyce said at the time.

She then gave Heard and Depp 72 hours to send the two dogs back to the U.S., or they will be euthanized if they weren't boarded until such time. She said, "It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States."

To prevent diseases from spreading, Australia follows strict quarantine regulations. Pet owners must secure permits and undergo to quarantine if they want to bring pets into the country, according to Yahoo.

Heard was the only one dealing the allegations, officials refused to explain why Depp wasn't charged.

During Depp's press conference on Friday, while promoting his new movie, 'The Departed 2: Black Mass,' he joked about the dog controversy. He said, according to Gawker, "I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kinda, I dunno, sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia."
