FX's "Archer" may soon find its way into video game consoles as Obsidian Entertainment is reportedly seriously considering making it happen. Obsidian is the game maker behind hits "Alpha Protocol," "Dungeon Siege III," and "South Park: The Stick of Truth."
Fans of the adult animation spy series "Archer" have something to be excited about if rumors turn out to be true. According to Latinos Post, well-known video game developer Obsidian Entertainment has been reportedly studying the idea of turning "Archer" into a role-playing video game. Obsidian project director Josh Sawyer explained in an interview that they are looking at the TV series as an ideal follow-up to their 2010 action video game "Alpha Protocol".
"I don't think people really thought about it, or at least not seriously, until after Alpha Protocol shipped. But it has come up actually several times of people saying, 'yeah, that would be a good fit. Archer Protocol!" Sawyer said.
According to Inquisitr, Obsidian realized the potential of the series when they were discussing how they wanted to make games based from animated comedies. They wanted to do something similar with what they did with "South Park." The video game was a big hit which proved Obsidian can pull off making "Archer" into a video game.
However, before the project can even go on the planning stages, there are many people who should be consulted first. First on the list would be FX top brass who could be seeing things differently from Obsidian. Then, there are the show's writers and cast who are all integral to the success of "Archer" as an animated series. While the rumor is definitely exciting for fans of the show and gamers alike, there is no definite timeline in the works as everything is still at the "look-see" stage of things.
