This year's Labor Day weekend had glimpses of 2016 US Presidential candidates at their hardworking best to continue garnering support from US residents all over. There's also added hope for the working community with President Barack Obama's call on extending paid sick leaves.
Nbcnews.com recently featured an article on the President's pledge when he announced the already signed executive decision regarding this appeal. Obama informed Boston supporters of the policy approval during a Labor Day breakfast event and the move is expected to give about 900,000 federal workers this benefit which was not offered previously in their respective working environments. "The values that built the middle class are working people's values," said Obama.
Still in the same article, the President also invited Congress to follow this call to action in passing the Healthy Families Act. The act will pave the way for businesses to also provide a week of paid leaves to their more than 14 employees. Here's the President's tweet for inspiration on the subject:
"Americans should have the basic security of paid leave." -@POTUS, 11:46 PM - 7 Sep 2015

In another article on news.yahoo.com, the said executive order will have employees who are working on federal contracts to have the right to an hour of paid leave (starting minimum) for every 30 hours of work done. This will also allow all employees the opportunity to care for ill family members during the paid sick leave, which will span up to 7 days in a year.
Although business groups are a bit skeptical on the President's newest policy, the White House says otherwise, according to the same article. Any costs would be offset by contractors' savings through lower attrition rates plus increased workers' loyalty, on a more positive note from the US Labor Department.
