Marvel is expanding its cinematic universe as "Jessica Jones" is slated to be released in Netflix in the following months.
According to Movie Pilot, after the premiere of "Daredevil," Marvel is now currently working on more shows like "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist." The site says that "Luke Cage" is now currently in production and is casting for the featured superheroes, while "Iron Fist" will reportedly begin once "Luke Cage" wraps up.
As of the moment, Marvel's "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" was reported to be one of the most anticipated shows coming to Netflix this year. According to Design & Trend, the show is scheduled to be released in December this year. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg revealed in the recent Television Critics Association's (TCA) press tour that the show will be very much different from "Daredevil."
She explained that Jessica Jones will be an interesting character who is "flawed and damaged" compared to her predecessor, Daredevil. Executive producer Jeph Loeb added that it will have a different tone and will be more like a "psychological thriller."
It was earlier reported that "Breaking Bad" alum Krysten Ritter will play the character. The story will be based on the comic books where Jessica Jones becomes a failed superhero named Jewel. Her major antagonist was reported to be Kilgrave a.k.a. the Purple Man who causes Jessica Jones a lot of trauma, leaving her with PTSD. She quits being a superhero and starts her own investigation agency.
Kilgrave will be played by "Doctor Who" star David Tennant and will be joined by Rachael Taylor who will play Patricia "Trish" Walker a.k.a. Hellcat.
It was also reported that the show will feature some crossover characters as Rosario Dawson will be appearing in the show as Claire Temple and Mike Colter will also make an appearance as Luke Cage, who is Jessica Jones' longtime partner. He will later on be her husband.
