Halle Berry and Aretha Franklin's beef has reportedly gone to another level as reports say that the actress has been replaced by the younger Jennifer Hudson for the singer's biopic. The "Catwoman" star was reportedly hurt after the "Queen of Soul" wooed her for years for the main role.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Franklin persuaded Halle to star in her biopic as she believes she's the right woman for the job. However, things abruptly changed and Halle discovered that she had been replaced for the role because she's reportedly too old for it.
"Halle is heartsick," an insider revealed to The National ENQUIRER via Radar Online. The source added, "When Halle heard Jennifer is on the inside track for the role, she called Aretha to read her the riot act. But Aretha wouldn't take Halle's calls! She had someone reply, saying casting Jennifer is just a sound business decision."
Berry, who played the role of Dorothy Dandridge in an HBO movie, reportedly accepted the 73-year-old singer in her home like she's an old friend. However, now she allegedly feels "duped." The insider revealed that the 49-year-old "Extant" actress is feeling so bad that she claims she's not going to speak with Aretha again.
However, Aretha has reportedly spoken up about the feud rumors between her and Halle. The "Amazing Grace" singer reportedly claimed that there's no bad blood between them. In fact, she said that both of them appreciate each other. She added that Halle was even there in the front row of her Los Angeles concert at the Microsoft Theater.
In July, it was said that aside from Berry, former "American Idol"contestants Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia were also considered to play the soul singer in the biopic. Denzel Washington and Oscar nominee Terence Howard were also picked by the singer to appear on her film, Daily Mail reports.
Meanwhile, reports have it that Halle is going through a rough time as she and her husband Olivier Martinez are heading for a $100 million divorce. Lately, she has been spotted without her wedding ring.
