London-based Dutch model, Yfke Sturm, is now fighting for her life after a seriously horrifying jet surf accident.
According to Mail Online, she fell off a motorized surfboard and while she was trying to swim to safety another jet surf rider accidentally struck her. Sources say that she was airlifted to Rizzoli hospital in the city of Naples where she remains in a critical condition.
The model is also suffering from a fractured skull and multiple spinal injuries. According to People, she was put in a medically-induced coma following the accident. The 33-year-old, 5'11" model was supposed to be spending the holiday in the island of Ischia in Italy. The model was reported to have awaken from the coma but no additional details have been provided yet.
The Independent has reported that a spokesperson for the Next Model Management confirmed the reports that she was injured last week but the spokesperson did not comment further on her condition. The agency has said in a statement: "We were shocked to hear about this terrible accident and our thoughts and prayers are with Yfke and her family at this time for her speedy recovery."
In addition, according to starpulse.com, the Dutch supermodel is said to be at serious risk of permanent paralysis due to the spinal cord injury.
Sturm has modeled for several international brands including Victoria's Secret, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Valentino and Marc Jacobs. She is also known for hosting "Holland's Next Top Model." Unfortunately, this may be the end of her modelling career which started when she was 15 after being discovered by modeling agency, Elite Model Management. She was brought to stardom after winning in the International Elite Model Look Contest.
Just a month ago, she gave birth to her first child, a son whom she named, Alexander.
