"Awkward" Season 5 aired another episode on Monday night that featured Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Matty's (Beau Mirchoff) relationship. After Matty found out that Jenna has known about Gabby's (Erinn Westbrook) infidelity with Jake (Brett Davern), he got mad at her for keeping it a secret. However, it seems that everyone in school sided with Jenna this time around.
In the episode titled "Short Circuit Party," Jenna became the new popular girl in school while everyone seemed to hate Matty, according to International Business Times. According to the official synopsis for the episode, Jenna caused an accident in school, but the results will be surprising not only for the students but also for her.
In the teaser released ahead of Monday night's episode, Val (Desi Lydic) could be heard saying in the clip, "I have terrible news."
"Yes, worse than sweating out your body weight in sweltering hallways while inhaling the bodily fumes of your classmates. Thanks to a certain unnamed recalcitrant whose name may or may not rhyme with Henna Mamilton, school has been cancelled for the duration of the day."
Jenna's best friend Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) helped her understand what was happening and why everyone was cheering her on, according to Enstarz.
"They think you planned this to get us out of school, you're like their new leader. Just go with it," Tamara said.
Meanwhile, Jenna contemplated on what just happened. In her mind she thought, "If I had learned anything in high school, it was that labels happened in the blink of an eye and take forever to disappear. But this time, I was Jenna Hamilton, school breaker. So why not embrace it?"
"Awkward" Season 5 will serve as the MTV series' last installment. It airs every Monday night at 9 p.m. ET.
