'Mad Men' Star Jon Hamm Breaks Up with Girlfriend of 18 years

"Mad Men" actor Jon Hamm and his girlfriend of 18 years, Jennifer Westfeldt, finally called it quits after months of speculations.

Hamm a.k.a. "Don Draper" in the hit TV series "Mad Men" and Westfeldt who have been together for over 18 years have finally ended all speculations about their relationship status and confirmed that they are no longer a couple. According to St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the now ex-couple issued a statement on Monday via Annett Wolf, their publicist. They expressed great sadness that after 18 years they are no longer together. They also said they will remain supportive of each other despite the breakup. The couple were never married despite their lengthy time together.

According to The Daily Mail, the 44-year-old Hamm and Westfeldt who is a screenwriter and actress were last seen together on July 22 in a New York party. Rumors began to surface about their troubles in April just before Hamm was scheduled to enter rehab for alcoholism which was scheduled for 30 days. Hamm's representative denied the rumors and told reporters it was not true.

In the same report, it was mentioned that Hamm admitted having a tough time portraying Don Draper in the AMC series "Mad Men" which finally ended in May after a seven-season run. He said it affected his psyche and it is not fun to be living the character every year that the show was being filmed. Hamm added that when people ask him what makes him different from the character he is playing on-screen, he tells them he is not immune to what Draper does to get rid of stress like drinking and getting drunk.

Hamm and Westfeldt met and started dating in 1997. They never made their relationship official and has no children. In 2011, the couple worked together on a comedy flick called "Friends with Kids" which Westfeldt wrote and starred in.
