British actress, Judy Carne died at the age of 76, according to MSN.
The actress who is best known as the "Sock it to me girl" on Rowan & Martin's "Laugh-In" in the late 1960s passed away on Sept 3. The cause of her is still uncertain, but her friend Jon Barrett, said via New York Times that the cause of her death likely pneumonia.
Carne married Burt Reynolds in 1963, but they divorced in 1965. In her 1985 autobiography, 'Laughing on the Outside, Crying on the Inside: The Bittersweet Saga of the Sock-It-To-Me Girl,' she detailed her relationship with the actor. Confessed about the affairs, drug addiction and described the relationship as abusive, as per MSN.
After leaving 'Laugh-In,' she struggled with drug addiction. Back in '70s, she was charged of heroin possession and forgery of prescription, making it harder for her to get roles.
Born in Northamptonshire, England, in 1939, Judy Carne studied at the prestigious Bush Davies Theatrical School for Girls. It was 1965, when she first appeared in TV, 'The First Day of Spring.' She also continued on building her career by appearing on the small screen, such as 'Gunsmoke,' 'Gidget,' 'Bonanza,' and 'The Patty Duke Show.'
Carne found her fame in 1968. She appeared on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, where she play the character of "The Sock It To Me Girl," she would be doused with water every time she said her famous phrase, "Sock it to me."
However, Carne got tired of the gag after two seasons. When she walked down the street during her fame people randomly tossed water on her, according to INQUISITR. During the third season of the show, she has a limited appearance and quit after the third season.
After having a hard of landing herself to TV and movie projects, Carne lived quietly in England.
