‘The Last Ship’ Season 3 Spoilers: Show Boss on Rachel’s Status, Early Plans

"The Last Ship" Season 2 finale was a huge deal as it aroused interest and eventually gathered more viewers. The Season ended with a lot of hanging story lines that could eventually evolve in the upcoming Season 3.

As per The Cartermatt website, "The Last Ship" season 3 foundation would be the shootout. It is when Curtis shot Rachel in the middle of a celebration by the crew members of President Michener and Nathan James. They all thought that they are finally getting the world back together without knowing that a bigger problem would soon surface on the upcoming season. Though the shootout did leave numerous pathways for the story line to flourish and would lead on to new twists.

Steven Kane the dished out some details regarding Dr. Scott's fate and the shooters intent:

"It was purposely ambiguous. ... We like the idea of showing that the show's not over, that there's still threats out there. Otherwise, it felt like, "Well, I guess they got the cure. Why keep watching?" It's part of the structure."

During their interview with The Hollywood Reporter, both the producer and the writer dished out hints on what's going to happen on the "The Last Ship" season 3.

As you're going to back into the writer's room for season three, is there anything you guys want to tease before you go?

Kane: The adventure continues. It's a big world, and we can go anywhere. We're actually using that as an opportunity.

Steinberg: I think the one thing we can say is season one was about staying alive and then getting home. Then, season two was about getting things started in America and starting to put [the country] right. Season three is going to expand again into the wider world, which is going to be an exciting new palette and widen the scope of the show even more.
