Bruno Mars may be returning to the Super Bowl Halftime stage very soon. According to reports, the NFL has offered the singer a headliner spot for the Super Bowl's Golden Anniversary Half Time Show.
Sources told Entertainment Tonight (ET) the good news earlier this week and even shared that Mars will be joined by other stars during the forthcoming Super Bowl 50 Halftime show. Should the pop singer decide to accept the offer, he will be performing at the brand new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This reportedly will be the first Super Bowl to be held in the Bay Area since the 1985 Super Bowl XIX.
The ET report also mentioned how the "Uptown Funk" singer already wowed viewers during the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII. He performed with his dancing band back then, alongside a special guest, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Mars' previous Halftime show has the second highest viewership for the Super Bowl Halftime special and drew 115 million viewers. The most watched was Katy Perry's Halftime show last year.
Meanwhile, Sarah Moll, Director of Media Events for the NFL, told Billboard in December that they considered Mars for the Super Bowl XLVIII, primarily because she was a huge fan of the singer. Moll said, "Myself and our producer, Ricky Kirshner, were both personal fans of Bruno and had seen him in concert and knew what he could do. And it was a lot of just telling folks here and getting folks excited about Bruno and taking them to shows and letting them see what he could do. And that's kind of what got it going."
However, the NFL executive admitted that her being Mars' fan is not the only factor in booking the "Just the Way You Are" singer for the Super Bowl. She also shared that the ultimate decision maker would be the league's commissioner and its executives.
Mars or his representatives have yet to comment on the news.
The Golden Anniversary of the Super Bowl will be held on February 7, 2016.
