Aside from practicing for her upcoming title defense match and responding to Floyd Mayweather's verbal jabs, Ronda Rousey will soon be adding a new activity to her schedules. For according to reports, the UFC bantamweight champion will be starring on the upcoming reboot of the 1989 cult classic film Road House.
As always, Ronda will not be your regular damsel in distress, for this upcoming movie will put her on the center stage with a robust role to play, so to speak. According to her agent, Brad Slater, Ronda would be playing huge role as a female version of Dalton which was originally played the late Patrick Swayze. In the movie Road House, Dalton plays as a "cooler" or a bouncer with a mysterious past who was asked to do a specialized doorman job at a club called Double Deuce. And if so, hopefully with almost identical storyline, Rousey's role as a bouncer would surely showcase her free-flowing movement or acting. For it can be remembered that having a role of a bouncer was already played by Rousey on another ensemble action film. In the said movie, Ronda Rousey, as Luna, portrayed an athletic nightclub bouncer who was later on recruited to join the group of mercenary known as "The Expendables."
Though there is still no exact date of release or even the starting period of the taping, it can be recorded that the said role is not taken lightly by the UFC champ. For according to bleacherreport, Rousey reached out to Swayze's widow, Lisa Niemi, in preparation for the role. Accordingly, Rousey was asking for Niemi's blessing before she accepted the role. She even posted on her twitter account saying that, "It is a great honor to play part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many... I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute to family and fans can be proud of."
On the other, as everyone expects a Rousier version of the film, others are also speculating on who will be playing the role of Swayze's love interest, Elizabeth "Doc" Clay, which was portrayed by Kelly Lench. And for that to be concluded we would have to wait for further updates from the Road House directors and producers.
