'Eye of the Tiger' Authors: "We did Not Grant Kim Davis any Rights"

Kim Davis' name has been seen on the news for the past few weeks after being sentenced to jail when she denied a same- sex couple of marriage license, preventing them to tie the knot despite of the Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage. She said that this was due to her Christian beliefs which she firmly believes in. The Kentucky clerk was released from jail last Tuesday.

According to latimes.com, the clerk's release has become an event when a lot people welcomed her once she stepped out of detention center after five nights. Her welcoming "party" became an event / party where the former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee led the crowd as the emcee. AS the Rowan County clerk thrust her fist into the air, the song "Eye of the Tiger" played on the background.

However, "Eye of the Tiger" authors were not happy with using the song without their permission. Survivor guitarist and song co- author Frankie Sullivan said in a Facebook post "NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use 'My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger.' I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!"

The song became popular after being part of Sylvester Stallone's movie, the "Rocky III" where he played a boxing champion who lost his title and must regain it. The choice of Ex Gov. Huckabee's staff to use the song for the event was believed to be appropriate since Davis also faced an enormous challenge.

According to washingtonpost.com, another co- author of the phenomenal song has released his statement regarding the incident of using their song without permission. Jim Peterik took the issue to Twitter where he tweeted, "I have not authorized the use of Eye of the Tiger for use by Kim Davis and my publisher will issue a [cease and desist]. This does not reflect my views."

He also added, "I was very surprised and dismayed at the misuse of the song I co-wrote with Frankie Sullivan for Rocky III. The song has motivated thousands through the years to reach beyond their limits. Its use for the release of Kim Davis does not support my views or my politics. I have contacted my publishers to make sure this usage is stopped immediately."
