'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers & Premiere Date: New Promo Clip Teases Jay Garrick's Arrival

A new teaser for the upcoming second season of "The Flash" was recently released online. The clip gave fans a first look at the new character Jay Garrick, to be played by Teddy Sears.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg talked about his decision to include Jay in The CW series.

"We talked very early on about even having a version of Jay Garrick in the pilot. Teddy represents the more classical look of a superhero, just tall and square-jawed and broad shouldered. That was something we were obviously moving away from when we cast Grant Gustin, but now seeing them work together, it's like a different kind of mentorship," he said.

Meanwhile, in the teaser, Jay could be seen informing Barry Allen and Team Flash about the new threats that will be coming their way. According to Variety, Jay first appeared in the DC comic version of "The Flash" in 1940. At that time, Jay became the original iteration of The Flash.

In The CW series, Jay will introduce Barry to the concept of alternate universes, starting with Earth-Two.

In other news, "The Flash" Season 2 will also introduce a slew of new characters. Just recently, it was confirmed that Keiynan Lonsdale will play the role of speedster Wally West.

Actress Shantel VanSanten has been tapped to play the role of Patty Spivot or Joe's newest partner. Patty has an obsession for metahumans. She is also obsessed with Barry but doesn't know that he's The Flash. Additionally, the series will also feature Tony Todd as the voice behind the villainous character Zoom.

"The Flash" Season 2 will also focus on Candice Patton's character Iris West and her involvement with Team Flash.

"The Flash" Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
