Henry Adams once said that a "teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." And perhaps implicitly such line of thinking also crossed the mind of James Franco who decided to venture into high school teaching. The actor, who was known for his role in the comedy-drama television series "Freaks and Geeks" and "127 Hours", posted on his Instagram account his intention of teaching saying that, "PALO ALTO HIGH SCHOOL - I will be teaching an 8 part film class for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. On another post, he highlighted the deadline of the submission of application, he likewise shared a link of the "APPLICATION FOR FILM MAKING WORKSHOP." On the said page, the details and intention of the workshop was released which encourages participants to produce a film for a possible film fest entry. It was stated on the site that;
"This workshop will be held one Sunday morning per month in the MAC. The teacher is Esther Wojcicki, and her co-workshop leader is a very well known director and actor supported by a team of professionals. We are looking for 24 students who are very interested in film making and want to help produce a film that will actually be shown in a film festival at the end of the year (if it is good)."
Now for some people who might be doubtful of Franco's talent, it would be a relief to know that his not just your ordinary Hollywood star. For Franco behind the scene was able to juggle the academe life and his Hollywood projects. For since 2006, he has attended UCLA, Columbia University, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Brooklyn College, Warren Wilson College, and even Yale University. From those schools Franco was able to study filmmaking, English, creative writing (including poetry). Aside from the academic titles, this Hollywood star turned teacher is also passionate about learning. He was described by his associate on the said project and former teacher Esther Wojcicki as someone who is "passionate about project-based learning, authentic learning."
