The synopsis for the premiere of Castle 8 is out and Beckett seems to make a career change when the show returns to ABC on Sept. 21. "Castle and Beckett are adjusting to Beckett's career change in the action-packed premiere. But things will take an unexpected turn after a call from a mysterious stranger set off an explosive chain of events," the synopsis read.
According to Vine Report, while Kate was not sure what career she would take at the end of last season as she passed the captain exam and being eyed for a potential senate candidacy, co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley told TV Line that they opted to keep Kate in the precinct to give strength for the duo working on cases.
The first episode of the story would be very interesting to viewers as the first part will be told from the perspective of Rick while the second part will be based on the perspective of Kate. The stranger being referred in the synopsis still remains a mystery but there is a strong buzz in the rumor that it could be Senator William Bracken, played by Jack Coleman.
TV Line said on the premiere of Castle Season 8 on Sept. 21, viewers will learn what Kate Becket decided about her career, having been courted to run for the senate after she passed the NYPD captain's exam. Castle's new showrunner Terence Paul Winter, said that having Becket run for office is "something we absolutely considered, and it's not like it's off the table.'' In deciding Becket's career, "What we realized is that the best way to tell Castle's stories is to have Castle investigating twisty, fun cases. And the best way to do that is to keep Beckett in the precinct.''
Promoting Beckett to captain could mean spending her time working on cases firsthand, alongside Rick on the streets of New York City.
