Mystic Falls will be invaded by the Heretics as "The Vampire Diaries" returns for Season 7 next month.
The new trailer featured in Entertainment Weekly shows Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) fighting their own mother Lily (Annie Wersching) because she led the group of vampires to take over the town. In the trailer, it can be seen that along with Stefan and Damon, their friends Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline (Candice Accola) will try to get their home back.
Meanwhile, Damon's friend will have to make a decision as to which side of the war he will choose. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) is reportedly having a hard time deciding whom he will side with.
In an interview with Malarkey, he revealed that Enzo feels some kind of a connection with Lily and he felt like he belonged to a family and a place with her. On the other hand, Enzo also has an allegiance to Damon and Caroline, so he is torn between someone he calls his family and his friends.
According to International Business Times, showrunner Julie Plec revealed that Enzo will be making his decision soon. Executive producer Caroline Dries also teased fans by saying that Enzo will question his feelings for Lily. She said that Enzo might be confused as to how he sees Lily. Is she a mother figure to him? Or is he attracted to her? The EP said that something like that will revolve around the story between Enzo and Lily.
Dries also revealed that Damon and Enzo will eventually become friends again in the season, but the beginning of their reunion won't be smooth-sailing. She added that there will be scenes where the two will be friendly with each other and it could be the beginning of how they will rekindle their friendship.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will premiere on The CW on October 8.
