'Empire' Season 2 Cast News & Spoilers: Vivica A. Fox Cast As Cookie's Sister; The Lyons Fight With Each Other

The cast of "Empire" Season 2 just got bigger as it was confirmed that Vivica A. Fox was cast to play Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) sister.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Kill Bill" star will play Cookie's older sister. However, the reason for her appearance in the show is still unknown.

Viewers have already met Cookie's other sister Carol, played by Tasha Smith. Executive producer Ilene Chaiken revealed in an interview with the site that "Cookie's other family members are troublesome to say the least."

It seems like Cookie's older sister might be causing some trouble as it was confirmed that her character will be appearing in Season 2 episode 8. Co-creator Lee Daniels previously said in an interview that they are interested in creating a spin-off showing Cookie's family when she was younger. The site speculated that bringing in some of Cookie's relatives in the show will be like an experiment to see how the viewers will react to them.

Meanwhile, the Lyon family will be fighting with each other as Cookie, along with Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), Andre (Trai Byers) and Anika (Grace Gealey), tries to take over the record label while Lucious (Terrence Howard) is still in jail for murder. It was earlier reported that Jamal (Jussie Smollett) took over the company in Lucious' absence.

According to International Business Times, Marisa Tomei, who will play Mimi Whitman, will also be trying to overtake the company. Chaiken revealed that Tomei's character is a very interesting addition in the sophomore season of the show, and she described the character as "one of those very, very rich people who thinks that it would be really fun to own a movie company or to own a music company."

Other high-profile guest stars were earlier confirmed for Season 2 including Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Kelly Rowland.

"Empire" Season 2 will premiere on September 23.
