Jason Bateman, the "Horrible Bosses actor, bought a $3 million home of the celebrated Ernest Borgnine, who died in 2012. The Country English compound hasn't been available for almost 60 years, reports the LA Times.
Bateman, who will star in the upcoming Arrested Development reunion, recently told Howard Stern that he had some money trouble in the 1990's due to a lack of significant roles.
According to Zillow, the estate was on the market for $3.395 million and was built in 1938. Paul Lester, the listing agent for the house told Zillow, "Lots of Hollywood history has passed through the doors of this house."
"Ernest brought his family up here," listing agent Paul Lester told Zillow. "Lots of Hollywood history has passed through the doors of this house." The gated 6,148-square-foot home with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms is uber-private and perfect for hiding out from paparazzi. And, as celebrity homes always are, it's fabulous.
The home, located in the Beverly Hills Post Office on a secluded cul-de-sac above Mulholland Drive, is accessible only through a private and gated driveway. The formal entry hall has a grand sweeping staircase and flows into the impressive entertaining rooms. The living and family rooms are incredibly spacious, with each one opening to pool and patio areas.
The couple closed the deal on January 23, 2013, according to the LA Times, and they paid $3,000,000 for the estate, which is considerably less than the asking price of $3,395,00. Apparently the decor is a little dated, but that can all be fixed. And, the house has outstanding potential.
