Halle Berry's show, "Extant," already aired its final episode for Season 2 and fans are speculating that because of the cliffhanger finale, the show might get renewed for Season 3.
According to Christian Today's recap, the finale was composed of two episodes: episode 12 titled "Double Vision" and episode 13 titled "The Greater Good"). In the finale episodes, Berry's character Molly, along with JD (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), was fighting the Humanichs as they try to spread a deadly virus and invade the world.
In the finale, a Humanich replica of Molly shot JD and tried to launch the virus across the planet. Aside from that, it was reported that the clone tried to steal the amulet which Molly kept with her. The amulet was a key which could launch the program that would kill all Humanichs at once.
Lucy (Kiersey Clemons) in the finale switched sides after she was betrayed by the TAALR AI system. She gave the amulet back to Molly. Before the Season 2 finale episode was over, Lucy was killed and died in Charlie's (Tyler Hilton) arms.
Although Molly and JD were successful in shutting down the Humanichs, there are still cliffhangers in the episode. In the finale episode, it was revealed that TAALR had an emergency reboot system just in case the whole system was shut down. It then uploaded itself into a Humanich body and the series ended showing the body having a drink at a café.
According to Latin Post, because of the final scene of the season finale, there are plenty of stories which could be explored for Season 3. As of writing, though, there is still no news as to whether the show will be renewed for another season. The report speculates that the network might announce the renewal next month, just like it announced the show's renewal for Season 2 in October last year.
