Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, a brand of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, is planning to expand aggressively in 2013. One of its ventures is the architectural masterpiece, the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort.

The Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort is a magnificent "horse-shoe" shaped structure that looks like it is emerging from the Taihu Lake in the Zhejiang Province . Designed by Ma Yansong, a Beijing based architect of MAD Architects, the resort measures 100 meters high and around 116 meters wide on a 75-acre area. The resort is worth $1.5 billion and features layered floors on the "ring" comprising of 321 rooms, reports Designboom.

The recently opened Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort has 37 villas and 40 regular and presidential suites each. Every room features a waterfront view and has ample ventilation and access to natural light. A special LED lighting system illuminates the resort in the evenings that accentuates its metal texture and gives it an animated colorful look.

While the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort is a visual treat, it offers exquisite services too. Every room in the hotel is fitted with high-speed internet access. It provides for 24 hour concierge and security facilities. Modern fitness centers along with luxurious spa services are also available. Outdoor and indoor pools along with massage therapy amenities and a vast stretching area are some of its other features.

A business center for conventions and meetings is also available. A kids club, limo services and club lounge are some of its added features.

The Sheraton Hotels and Resort group has planned 30 openings just in the Asia Pacific region. Almost 15 of these are expected to open in China. The franchisee also hopes to expand into countries in the Middle East and Africa. A new hotel will be coming up in the Latin American country of Argentina as well, reports Business Traveler.

"Sheraton is anticipating record-breaking growth, putting us on track to open our 500th hotel in 2015. The majority of our new hotel development is taking place in the world's fast-growing economies, while in North America, Sheraton remains one of the most sought-after brands for conversion opportunities." Hoyt Harper, global brand leader of Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, said to Business Traveler.
