Barbie® Selling Her Long Time Malibu Dreamhouse

In an effort to boost sales and create a head-turning ad campaign, Mattel, the toy company that manufactures the world's most popular doll, Barbie®, has blurred the line between imaginary and real housing. Barbie has listed her "Dreamhouse" in Malibu, California, with an asking price of $25 million!

The 8000 square feet scaled home was built in 1971. It lies on a 23,456 square feet lot with around 150 feet of beachfront access, reports Real Estalker. The 'pink-tastic' home is a 3-story, one bedroom-one bathroom residence, walled on three sides with unlimited ocean views.

According to the listing record at Trulia, the ground floor features a compact kitchenette and what-looks-like a dining room. The upper two floors are accessed through an elevator. The first floor features sky blue tiles with hot pink furniture and a bathroom while the second floor features the bedroom and a steam shower with ample dressing area. A self-flushing toilet and a fireplace are some of its other features.

Barbie has hired star realtor Josh Altman to take care of her house's sale deal. Altman starred in a reality TV show, "Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles". He expressed his excitement on being the "chosen one" to sell Barbie's mansion, reports Daily News.

The whole point behind the fancy declaration is: Mattel will be discontinuing the manufacture of the "Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse". Sales of Barbie fell by 4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012. Mattel has taken a blow because children now prefer playing "angry birds" on iPads rather than with an actual physical toy, reports MSN Money.

Barbie will now embark on a world tour to find her next "Dreamhouse".

"I can't wait to start traveling as I always find inspiration in the places I visit. And of course I have been browsing Pinterest for home décor inspiration. But I have to remember to take this big move one step at a time. First, the Dreamhouse, then the fab décor! I'm excited to show everyone what's in store next!" Barbie toldThe News in an email.

When asked where she would like to set up base next, she asserted that she was considering 'all seven continents' and was open to everything, reports Daily News.

Barbie's next Dreamhouse location will be revealed in the fall, 2013.
