A British stunt woman, who doubled for famous celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is said to be fighting for her life after a collision on the set of 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.'
Olivia Jackson, 32 year old, suffered punctured lung and severe head injuries after colliding with a metal camera arm while doing her stunt in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday. The stuntwoman, who performed in the forthcoming 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was believe to be not wearing any protective gear when the accident happened. She has reportedly been placed in medically induced coma.
David Gran, Jackson's husband and fellow stunt performer has flown to South Africa after hearing the news. Through his Facebook page, Gran thank the people for the outpouring support.
He wrote, "I want you all to know that she has been making steady progress and your thoughts and good vibes are all working so please keep them up!" he wrote. "She's my inspiration and my world and one tuff little mother f---er !"
"She's fighting hard and the team of people working on Olive have been amazing and have been doing some incredible work," he also wrote. "Thanks again to everybody! I whisper to her everyday telling her about the support she's getting world wide!"
A source who witnessed the incident told the Sun that Jackson had "no chance" when the camera malfunctioned and failed to move out of her way during her motorbike chase scene.
The source explained to the site, "It was a very dangerous stunt. She was riding a motorbike in a straight line but due to the scene she had no protective gear or helmet," the source said. "There is a metal arm which carries the camera along. But it malfunctioned and didn't lift up. It was totally out of her control."
