'Fifty Shades Darker' Movie Release Date & News: James Foley To Direct 'Fifty Shades Freed?'

"Fifty Shades Darker" director James Foley will reportedly direct the third installment to the franchise, "Fifty Shades Freed."

In a recent interview with Empire Online, Dakota Johnson opened up about Foley becoming the franchise's new director.

"It's quite exciting. There was a moment of being afraid, because I didn't know what it was going to be like. I had an experience with Sam Taylor-Johnson and then that all went away. Now I'm excited. I think James is a talented filmmaker. How often do you get to reconvene with the same people and have a different spin?" she said.

Meanwhile, Johnson being at ease with the new director could only mean big things for Foley. There are reports that if he will be able to work peacefully with book author E.L. James, there's a chance that he could also be tapped to direct "Fifty Shades Freed."

In other news, fans are now wondering when Universal Pictures will announce the new cast members that will be tapped to join the franchise. As of late, fans are still unaware on which actors and actress will be tapped to play the roles of Dr. Flynn, Jack Hyde, Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams.

According to Design & Trend, there are multiple celebrities who could give these roles justice. For instance, the role of Jack could be given to "Thor" actor Tom Hiddleston or "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner.

The role of Dr. Flynn could reportedly be given to "Love Actually" star Colin Firth, "Sherlock Holmes" actor Jude Law or "X-Men: Days of Future Past" actor Michael Fassbender.

Mrs. Robinson could be given to actresses such as Johnson's mom, Melanie Griffith, Sandra Bullock or Katie Holmes.

Lastly, the role of Leila could be given to supermodel Kendall Jenner or Cara Delevingne.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated for release on Feb. 10, 2017.
