'Allegiant' Movie Spoilers & Release Date: Last Two Films From 'Divergent' Series To Get New Names

The final two films from the "Divergent" series were recently given new names.

According to MTV News, the two-part final films from the franchise were previously called "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1" and "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2." However, just recently the titles for the two films have been tweaked and changed.

The first part of "Allegiant" will now be called "The Divergent Series: Allegiant." This means that "Part 1" will no longer be part of the film's official title.

Meanwhile, the second part of the film will now be called, "The Divergent Series: Ascendant." Both films will still be based on the books written by Veronica Roth.

Other than the two new film titles, Lionsgate recently unveiled two new film logos for the upcoming movies.

For "The Divergent Series: Allegiant," the tagline reads, "Break the boundaries of your world." The tagline for "The Divergent Series: Ascendant," meanwhile, reads, "The end is never what you expect." Both logos feature the release date of the two films.

"Ascendant's" tagline instantly appealed to fans who know that Shailene Woodley's character Tris will be killed off towards the end of the franchise.

During a previous interview with MTV News, Roth revealed that the actress immediately got on board when she was told that her character would die.

In other news, the filming for "Allegiant" recently concluded, so lead stars Theo James and Shailene Woodley are currently on break.

During the past couple of weeks, there have been ongoing rumors that James and Woodley's onscreen chemistry could encourage them to get into a relationship with one another. No matter how many times these rumors have been denied, fans continue to link the two to each other romantically.

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016. "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" will be released in March 2017.
