Arum Calls USADA's Attention Over Mayweather's IV Injections Expose

Mayweather's win over Manny Pacquiao continues to raise more questions. Recently, Arum raises questions to reliability and authenticity of the USADA in the way they handled and allowed Mayweather IV Injections. According to the Los Angeles Times, "Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s use of an IV treatment to deal with dehydration before his fight against Manny Pacquiao should not have been by permitted by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency."

Bob Bennett, the executive director of the Nevada commission also stated that "USADA has historically been recognized as the world's leading anti-doping authority, however, my experiences to date with them have been less than acceptable and less than professional."

It was reflected upon because Mayweather will return to the ring on Saturday night against Andre Berto in a Showtime pay-per-view fight at MGM Grand. Mayweather will attempt to match the late heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record at retirement as posted by the Los Angeles Times.

Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum acknowledges that whatever view he gives in the light of SB Nation's expose of Floyd Mayweather's IV injection before his May 2 fight against Manny Pacquiao could be misunderstood. After all, Pacquiao is his ward as stated in a report by Yibada.

Looking at the policies set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency, it is known that the agency prohibits any large amount of fluids entering the body before the fight as a preventive step against the possible covering of performance-enhancing drug use.

However, it seems that there are two sides to the story. USADA spokeswoman said "Mr. Mayweather's use of the IV was not prohibited under the NSAC rules at that time and would not be a violation of the NSAC rules today." While Bennett and commission Chairman Francisco Aguilar sharply disagree, explaining the Nevada commission has not adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency code's prohibited methods as further reported by Los Angeles Times.
