Taylor Swift can add one more statue in her growing collection. Last Thursday, the singer-songwriter woke up to the news that she just won an Emmy. She thought it was a prank, but it's as real as it gets. She took to Twitter to celebrate the win with her followers, saying, "It's real!"
The award, which recognizes excellence in the television industry, was given to the hitmaker for the "AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience," voted as best original interactive program. Swift, who executive produced the app, shares the award with Radical Media, which developed the app for iOS and Android.
Joseph Kahn, the video and app's director, shared insights to the program's interactive success. He told Mashable last November, "The app is a cross between theater, a music video and a video game. I had to direct it more like a stage show than a music video so the audience can choose any way they want to look; we had to create reasons for them to turn their head or look up or look down."
With the recent Emmy nod, will there be an acting career for Swift in the horizon? Mariska Hargitay, who appeared in the pop diva's "Bad Blood" music video, told ET that this is very possible. The actress, who plays Olivia Benson in NBC's "Law and Order: SVU," said Swift may act in an episode of the show.
"We just talked about it. We're going to wait until the end of the [1989 World] tour to see how it goes. But it's in the air," Hargitay told ET.
If this pushes through, this won't be the first time Swift will dabble into acting. She previously guest starred in an episode for "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" in 2009, and played a small role in the 2010 movie, "Valentine's Day."
The award will be presented at Emmys' creative arts ceremony on Saturday.
