Dark Souls III is set to be released in Japan on March 24, 2016, developer From Software has confirmed.
Dark Souls 3 games will be released for both PS4 and Xbox One. However, release dates for PC version and western countries are yet to be announced in the coming days. Online testing for PS4 version will be conducted from Oct. 16 to 18, according to PlayStationLifeStyle.net. The testing will be done for about three hours a day from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Japan time. Recruitment is ongoing and those interested to participate can check the official Japanese website. Sign-up phase is from today, Sept. 4 to Oct. 24, 11:59 p.m.
From Software have confirmed a list of game features including the return of the New Game+ Mode that will allow for new weapons, items, and changes to enemy placements. The usual summoning system found in Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 will also be seen again, according to Express.co.uk.
Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki described Dark Souls 3 as "withered beauty." The game reveals in finding beauty among death and decay as the world faces an impending apocalypse.
One of the major changes in the game is the switch to an MP bar. "By changing the magic management system to an MP scheme, options and freedom of utilization should increase," Miyazaki told Game Informer as reported by IGN. "This way we can better clarify the differences in managing items and magic."
Magic in Dark Souls 3 will be also be more than just "the same type of spells with different attributes," according to Miyazaki. The game features "specific characteristics that can enhance the players' play styles and strategies."
The online version can be purchased for 6,930 yen via download, while the retail version will cost7,430 yen, said Gematsu. Limited retail versions of the game will include a soundtrack CD and an additional map of the in-game world.
