Caitlyn Jenner Talks about the Reason Behind the Name-Changing Ceremony

Caitlyn Jenner's name-changing ceremony was not entirely about her. During the latest "I Am Cait" preview, Jenner, formerly known as Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner, shares about the reason behind the big celebration over her new name.

In a report from E! Online, Jenner said, "Outside right now, they are setting up for my name change. All of the girls, all of my little tribe, have told me that they never really celebrated their name change. They just kind of went through it. So, it's not just for me. Really, it's about all of them."

In one episode of "I Am Cait," Drian Juarez, Jenner's gal pal and a representative from the Los Angeles LGBT Center, comes over to her house to discuss the process of legally changing her name and gender, according to E! Online. In the said episode, Drian tells Jenner, "You have to go through the court-ordered process, which has been streamlined a bit. Before you had to have gender-confirmation surgery before you could change your gender marker. There was advocacy done to change that and now you just have to have clinically-appropriate treatment to change your gender marker."

Then Jenner faces the camera and says, "After hearing all the struggles people go through because they don't have the proper documentation, I realized that I should be a little bit more aggressive in dealing with this issue of my identity. I think it's time to get that process started."

Caitlyn Jenner is a transgender activist and a self-proclaimed Christian. Her views on same-sex marriage, which she had shared during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres received both backlash and understanding from members of the gay community. She even got DeGeneres confused by her judgement of gay people and same-sex marriage. "I Am Cait" Season Finale will be aired next Sunday at 8 p.m. on E!
