Tom Cruise, the Hollywood actor and star, has sold his condo in the American Felt Building, East Village, in a private sale for $3 million.
The Real Deal first broke the news about Cruise's home transaction. He sold the building without the help of a real estate agent and is rumored to be looking for a home in Connecticut and Westchester, preferably one that has a personal garage attached to it.
The American Felt building was constructed in 1905 and then converted into condominiums in 1984. The building derives its name from the American Felt Company, a firm that supplied bushing felt and hammers to Steinway Piano Company. The building is famous for its mid-century style and high ceilings.
Cruise bought the condo in his early-star days and was one of the first residents of the building. His ex-wives, Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman stayed in the place after they married Cruise. Katie Holmes also spent some time in the building, reports The Real Deal.
Cruise's condo is on the tenth floor of the twelve story building. The Condo is spread across an area of 2,200 feet and comprises of two bedrooms and two bathrooms. An additional room was used as a gym by the star. Apparently, Cruise had the ceiling of his home lowered to nine feet, reports Zillow.
Cruise is living in his Greenwich Village residence where he stayed with his ex-wife Katie Holmes.
Holmes has moved into a Big Apple apartment in New York with daughter, Suri. Cruise also owns a luxury estate in the posh area of Beverly Hills.
