Reports have it that there's a chance that the actor will be taking a major shift in his career by accepting a role in the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker," as Jack Hyde.
Somerhalder's wife Reed is reportedly keen on convincing him to leave the show so his name will no longer be associated with Dobrev, who was his former girlfriend, co-star and love interest in the vampire drama series. With such rumors, Celeb Dirty Laundry claims that Ian will be shifting his career from television to movies. To start off this, he will reportedly accept a part in "Fifty Shades Darker."
"Nikki won't forget that fact, and wants to distance her husband from TVD and the stigma of Dobrev. Until Ian moves on, Reed knows Somerhalder will always be seen as 'Nina Dobrev's ex' and not 'Nikki Reed's husband' in the public eye," the website reported.
Although Henry Cavill and Theo James were also considered to play the role of Jack Hyde in the movie franchise, it is said that Somerhalder's fans are more eager to see the actor in the big screen. If this rumor is true, then there's a big possibility that he will play the role in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' book, "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed," according to International Business Times. Jack Hyde is the former Commissioning Editor at Seattle Independent Publishing (SIP) where Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) works.
Meanwhile, the actor and model recently gushed about his interest on becoming a father, Entertainment Online reports. When asked if he wants to be a dad, he quickly answered, "Oh, hell yes! Absolutely!" and it's all about "practice."
Somerhalder also claimed that his married life is the most incredible thing that happened to him. It reportedly makes him happy and secure in something, and he just can't wait to see his child with his wife.
