Frank Lloyd Wright once said about New York City, "The buildings are shimmering verticality, a gossamer veil, a festive scene-prop hanging there against the black sky to dazzle, entertain, amaze." Julie Iovine, author of the forthcoming book entitled "New York in Fifty Design Icons'' by Conran Octopus Publishing, will be exploring this dazzling city that is the Big Apple. The book will be featuring some of the most interesting edifices in New York, along with its monuments, garments, graffiti, and symbolic brands that contribute to the visual identity of the city.
According to the Architectural Digest, the author of the book has chosen many instantly recognizable structures in the Big Apple, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Chrysler Building, as well as lesser-known masterpieces, such as Louis Armstrong's Blue Kitchen at the jazz legend's museum in Queens and the modern interiors of the Tishman Auditorium at the New School in the West Village. As seen together, they offer intimate portrait about the city. New York In Fifty Design Icons is part of the new series from London's Design Museum that profiles major cities the world over. The book will be available on October 1st, along with London in Fifty Design Icons.
