Rock musician Dave Matthews has picked up a posh mansion in Malibu, California, for $6.6 million. Matthews purchased the property from Mary Kaplan, daughter of Tony award winning star, Leslie Nielsen.
The residence is located in the prime area of Point Dume, which is a celebrity hub as well. Kaplan had purchased the property in April 2007 for $4.1 million. However, the property has now traded ownership for a profit of $2.5 million, reports Real Estalker.
According to the listing records, the double story home sits on a gated estate spanning across 1.7 acres. The residence is spread across 7,000 square feet and contains six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. The home is done up in European Country style and features French doors, polished concrete as well as wooden floors and beamed ceilings made of rural white oak in a zigzag design.
Interiors include a spacious center room, a formal living room with a cozy fireplace that opens up to the modern and fully-equipped gourmet kitchen. A family room and a breakfast area also line the lower floor. The upper floor contains the master suite with an attached bathroom. The home also has an upper terrace with a central marquee.
Outside, the home has wide lawns and an apple orchard as well. A rectangular pool is lined by a sunbathing area. The place also has a large attached two car parking space and a lighted tennis court. A separate guest house is also available in the property.
Apart from his new digs, Matthews also owns a residence in Charlottesville, Virginia, and another bungalow in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle.
Matthews was ranked #9 in the "World's Most Richest Singers" list by Celebrity Net Worth which also estimated his net worth to be around $250 Million. His band, the "Dave Matthews Band," was an instant hit with the public and his concerts raked in more money than Britney Spears and N Sync shows.
The band recently released its latest album, "Away From the World," which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.
