Historic Tribeca Skybridge is For Sale at $30M

Want a personal skybridge? If you have the budget, this is your chance to own one plus a place to dwell in.

The two Tribeca residences that inlcude a townhouse and an apartment, located on either side of the Staple Street skybridge are currently for sale. The historic structure will hit the market at around $30 million.

The skybridge located on 9 Jay Street and 67 Hudson #3B, connects two buildings by the 108-year-old walkway. The 6,300 square feet interiors of the apartment are extremely bare and open compared to its historical exteriors that featured 50 windows.

"Whoever buys this is really buying a piece of Tribeca history," said broker Kaptan Unugur of The Serhant Team at Nestseekers International, New York Post reported. "It's the only private skybridge for sale in the whole city."

Unugur will be listing the package with broker Ryan Serhant, who is a star of Bravo's "Million Dollar Listing New York."

Said footbridge is owned by fashion designer Zoran Ladicorbic, who has used it for three decades to commute from his third-floor, 1,900-square-foot apartment at 67 Hudson St. to his town-house office at 9 Jay St, Gothamist reported.

The town house is considered historical but is not landmarked and is originally a stable for horse-drawn ambulances. It was built in 1907 wherein the bridge over the Staple Street alley was used to transport patients from the stable to a hospital clinic at 67 Hudson St.

The hospital was designed by Robertson & Potter resulting into a handsome little building with a terra cotta plaque bearing the 'NYH' monogram on the Staple Street side, which is still seen on the structure.

"It's rare to have a town house like this on a corner block so it's not squeezed in between other town houses," Unugur said, adding that the home also has a large rooftop terrace with great views of the city.

Aside from that, the buyer could also build up an additional 1,800 square feet or so space in order to create a five-bedroom, five-bathroom home.
