Qualcomm Debuts the New SnapDragon Flight for Drones

A new Snapdragon flight for drones has recently been launched by Qualcomm Technologies, a subordinate of Qualcomm Incorporated. It seems that the technological company is constantly aiming for developments and innovations day by day.

As Qualcomm launches its new technological achievement, will it mark a new frontier for the company? Daily Times Gazette said that Qualcomm Technologies has introduced the Snapdragon Flight, a highly optimized 58x40mm board directed precisely for consumer drones and robotics applications.

The new Snapdragon alongside strong connectivity and advanced drone software as well development tools will bring innovative mobile technologies to form a new class of consumer drones. Digital Trends also revealed that The Snapdragon Flight includes a board based on the Snapdragon 801 processor, which can be found in the likes of the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5, and Sony Xperia Z3.

Qualcomm disclosed that the "The integrated design is engineered to reduce the size, weight, and power consumption leading to longer flight times and additional safety." The Snapdragon Flight is intended to empower features that drone consumers' desires to have such as a 4K Video with a rich resolution of camera support, image enhancement. It also boasts of video processing abilities and synchronized 720p encoding for first person vision.

As the company that is driven by a vision that robotics can be carried to a whole new level, it appears that the goal is almost reachable. For many years Qualcomm has invested in researching about different rolling and flying robotics as well as improving on mobile technologies. Now, the new Snapdragon Flight will realized all of the company's aims. One unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) built by China-based drone manufacturer Yuneec is set to be the first one to use the Snapdragon Flight technology and is set to launch in 2016.

Qualcomm's entry into the drone does not only offer innovative technologies to the consumer but it helps the company's business profit as well. Qualcomm faces increasing competition from the likes of Samsung and Intel in the smartphone market which is why this new technology will bring a cutting edge for the company.
