After surviving a what could be a scandal, Elizabeth (Téa Leoni) will be stepping into a new role in the Season 2 of "Madam Secretary."
According to Screen Fad, the Season 2 premiere will begin with the presidential plane missing, and without the commander-in-chief around, Elizabeth is tasked to swear as the acting President of the United States.
It was reported that this is something that Elizabeth did not expect would be happening after the events in Season 1. It can be recalled that during the Season 1 finale, Elizabeth refused to let her husband lie to the congressional committee where they admitted that they shared some classified information about Secretary Marsh's (Brian Stokes Mitchell) death.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that Henry (Tim Daly) will be head to head with a new Defense Intelligence Agency handler, Jane Fellows, which will be played by a new cast member, Jill Hennessy. Christian Post described the character as a "discreet yet commanding political operator." According to the report, the clash happens when Fellows asks Henry to recruit one of his Russian students to work for the NSA.
The show will also feature new characters and guest appearances. Entertainment Weekly earlier reported that Eric Stoltz will be appearing as Elizabeth's brother in Season 2. According to the report, the character will most likely appear in an episode airing sometime in November. The report added that the character could also end up as a recurring one.
It was also reported that Academy award-winning actor Morgan Freeman will be appearing in Season 2 as a Supreme Court judge. Apparently, the actor is also an executive producer of the show and he also directed the premiere episode for Season 2.
"Madam Secretary" will be returning on CBS for Season 2 on October 4.
