Tom Hardy lost his cool and shut down a journalist after asking him about his sexuality.
The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' actor was at the Toronto International Film Festival last Sunday. He was promoting the film 'Legend,' in which Hardy portrays twin gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray. In the movie, Ronnie's character is bisexual.
A journalist from the Daily Xtra, a Toronto LGBT publication, left the actor unimpressed when the reporter described his sexuality as ambiguous.
"In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality. But given interviews you've done in the past your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous. Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?," the journalist asked, who was identified as Graeme Coleman.
Hardy paused for a while and responded, "What on Earth are you on about?"
Coleman clarified he was referring to Hardy's 2008 interview with Attitude Magazine, which he confessed to having sexual relations with guys. "As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor ... I'm an artist. I've played with everything and everyone," Hardy told the mag at that time.
The journalist then repeated the question, asking the actor if he thinks it's difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality.
"I don't find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality," the actor replied, adding, "Are you asking me about my sexuality?"
When Coleman said, "Um, sure," the actor asked, "Why?" As the reporter tried to answer him, Hardy quickly dismissed him by saying "Thank You." This only means he is not comfortable talking about his sexuality.
In 2011, Hardy clarified his comments that he made to Attitude Magazine, according to News.au.
The actor told Marie Claire, "I don't regret anything I've ever said It's just a shame things are misconstrued and I don't get the opportunity to explain."
"I have never put my penis in a man. I've never had a c*** in my a***, and I have no f***ing desire for it. If that's what you like, cool. But it doesn't do it for me," he added.
