Minnesota Real Estate Update: Rice County Public Health to Offer “Healthy Homes Real Estate Training” for Free

Faribault Daily News reported that the Rice County Public Health office, in collaboration with the staff of the Minnesota Department of Health's Indoor Air Unit, will be offering a free "Healthy Homes Real Estate Training" this Oct. 2.

The seminar will be conducted for real estate agents, but anyone who wants to join--even without an affiliation to real estate--are welcome to participate.

The free workshop for real estate professionals and the interested public will be held at the Rice County Government Services Building in 320 Third Street NW, Faribault. The workshop will be conducted inside Conference Room 3A.

The training is comprised of three classes, according to the following schedule:

8:30 a.m. Mold in Homes (1 hour)

Topics addressed will include the causes of indoor mold growth, potential health effects from exposure to mold, and ways to identify and solve mold problems in homes.

9:30 a.m. Radon in Homes (1.5 hours)

This course provides an introduction to radon for real estate professionals. The learning objectives include: health concerns, how radon enters buildings, how to test for radon, how radon can be fixed, the new radon disclosure law, and radon resistant new construction.

11:00 a.m. Carbon Monoxide in Homes (1 hour)

Topics addressed will include the causes of elevated indoor carbon monoxide, the associated health effects, and the ways that real estate professionals can help clients identify these problems during the purchasing process.

Those who are willing to participate in the said event are requested by the Public Health officials to pre-register. Pre-registration is being done to ensure adequate materials and space accommodations.
