One Direction Thanks Fans in Last US Concert Before Break, #WeWillMeetAgain1D Trended on Twitter Worldwide

One Direction announced to have a break and performed its last U.S. concert on Saturday night in Massachusetts, thanking the fans for their support of the “On The Road Again.”

The band will take a hiatus after releasing and promoting their fifth album and it would take a long time before One Direction gets the music playing again, Gossip Cop reported.

After the band's performance at Gillette Stadium, Harry Styles tweeted, “Thank you Boston. That was the perfect way to wrap up the U.S. Tour. Thank you to everyone who works to make the shows happen.”

He tweeted a second message on Twitter that read, “Thanks for spending some time with us. It’s been an amazing tour, can’t thank you enough. Thanks for having us. All the love.”

Band member Liam Payne also said goodbye through Instagram, with a video of him lip-synching Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now,” with the caption, “Sad sad sad see you soon America and Canada too you will both be missed a lot thank you for years of amazing crowds and celebrations.”

Fans interpreted his words “years of amazing crowds” as a manifestation that the band's hiatus will actually turn into a permanent split.

X Factor and Syco chief Simon Cowell also confessed that even the One Direction boys themselves don’t yet know if they will reform once their “extended hiatus” is over, Unreality reported.

Other members Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have not commented on the end of the U.S. leg tour.

Meanwhile, fans took to Twitter their sadness about the band's long break. The hashtag #WeWillMeetAgain1D trended on Twitter worldwide with a total impression of 5,083,141 and a total reach of 2,951,376, according to Keyhole.

One fan tweeted, "Thank you so much for all these amazing years. you promised not to leave and we promise that we'll be here till the end."

"From Take Me Home, to Where We Are, to On The Road Again, to wherever we meet again," wrote another.

There are many tweets that expressed their sadness as well as their eagerness for the band to come back in the near future.
