"New Girl" Season 5 will feature Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hanna Simone) preparing for their wedding and then actually tying the knot sometime in the season. However, between the two, Schmidt will be the one who is more obsessed with having the perfect celebration.
According to series creator Liz Meriweather, Schmidt will become a "groomzilla."
"We also really love Schmidt and Cece together. They're funny. It felt like a way of generating story and comedy. Schmidt, in our idea for the season, becomes obsessed with the wedding planning, in a way that, stereotypically, a woman would. He is very focused on throwing the best wedding of all time," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, Meriweather also said that there's a chance Schmidt or Cece's mom wouldn't approve of their relationship and their wedding.
According to Christian Post, between the two moms, it is Cece's mom who will not be happy with her daughter's decisions. "It was reported that Cece's mom will not approve of her choice to marry Schmidt since she is coming from a traditional Indian culture," the publication noted.
In other news, the premiere episode for "New Girl" Season 5 will be called "No Girl." This is because lead star Zooey Deschanel, who plays the role of Jess, will not be part of the episode. At the time of its filming, Deschanel was still on maternity leave after giving birth to her child. Additionally, there are a handful other episodes wherein Deschanel will not be part of the show.
One of her cast members revealed that the filming schedule for Season 5 has also been moved to accommodate Deschanel's recent pregnancy. The upcoming season will also not feature Jess and Nick getting back together.
"New Girl" Season 5 will start filming in October. The series will premiere on FOX sometime in the winter.
