Ellen Page Makes Red Carpet Debut with Girlfriend Samantha Thomas

Last Sunday, during the premier of Ellen Page's latest movie "Freeheld" she brought a special date--her girlfriend Samantha Thomas. Page and Thomas made their first debut as a couple at the red carpet in the Toronto International Film Festival.

Page's film, "Freeheld" is based on a true story of a lesbian couple fighting for domestic partnership benefits. She is playing one-half of a lesbian relationship. Her journey in making the move serves as the perfect time for her coming out.

The 28-year-old actress tells Out Magazine for its October cover story, "I remember thinking, 'Ellen, how in God's name could you make this film and not be out?" She also said, "What's interesting to me is how long it took to make the movie - for it to finally come together - and how my internal progression toward coming out was naturally in line with it." According to People, Ellen's latest project is also her most personal.

The film's premier is the perfect time to flaunt her blossoming relationship. Page told E! News with a big smile, "I'm in love."

"Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend's hand is pretty special." She added, "It's pretty awesome."

The couple looked amazing as they both wore tuxedo ensembles. Page's simple look, black jacket, tight black pants and skinny tie was from Saint Laurent while Thomas was seen in a vest a ruffled shirt.

According to Daily Mail, Ellen's best friend Ruby Rose is all out support for her pal's latest project. She posted a photo of her and Ellen on her Instagram with a caption, "When your best friend is the most talented, funny, beautiful, generous, humble human being it's hard to not smile until it hurts. Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me."

Ruby Rose also posted a photo on Instagram together with Page and Thompson. She jokingly said, "When you're not sure if you're a YSL Campaign or really stylish waiters."

Freeheld will be out in theaters Oct. 2.
