The cruise ship bus carrying passengers, who were stranded on the Carnival Triumph for five days, unfortunately broke down on Friday morning further delaying passengers and prolonging their unpleasant holiday.
The cruise ship bus had left port in Mobile, Alabama and was heading toward New Orleans. Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen says a bus got sidelined Friday on the way to New Orleans after leaving Mobile, Ala, according to the Associated Press.
"The bus literally breaks down," passenger Clark Jones told Live at Daybreak. "It comes to a stop in the middle of the highway. We have to pull over to the side. It's dark. All the lights on the bus go out."
Jones was seeing the irony and humor in the the situation was funny, but others didn't take it so lightly.
"My son Jacob and I, when we pulled over and realised the bus was broken, we just started laughing. People were giggling. Other people were not happy," he said.
The spokesman added that another bus was made available and those aboard were transferred and continued to New Orleans where they arrived safely later Friday morning.
The Carnival Triumph cruise ship had on board 4,200 people and was adrift after an engine-room fire Sunday left it powerless.
"No one here from Carnival is happy about the conditions on board the ship," Cahill said according to NPR, "and we obviously are very, very sorry about what is taking place. There is no question that conditions onboard the ship are very challenging."
Passengers are set to receive a full refund on their cruise and offered 15-20 percent off a future cruise, in case they want to do this all over again.
